What does TypeLaw do?

TypeLaw is a service that handles your brief formatting. We build your tables, add necessary certificates, and format your brief to local rule compliance; you send us your draft brief and we send back a ready-to-file PDF that’s been reviewed by a credentialed lawyer. What does TypeLaw need from me?

We need a complete draft, from introduction through conclusion, for TypeLaw to work its magic. To get the most value out of TypeLaw, don’t worry about adding a cover page, table of contents, or table of authorities. Our software generates those from scratch after you submit your order.

When will I get my brief back (and how much will it cost)?

We offer a flat rate per brief with next business day turnaround. Our business hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm, excluding federal court holidays. Any briefs submitted after hours will be turned around by 10am the next business day. Making changes to your brief via our editor is available to you at any time. We offer an optional 1-hour turnaround during business hours for an extra $400 fee.

How will I be billed (and what if I don’t like it)?

You will receive an invoice after your formatted brief is returned to you. We ensure that you are happy with our service before collecting payment.

How do I pay?

What file format will my brief be in when it is returned by TypeLaw?

What if I need to make edits to my brief after I receive the PDF from TypeLaw?

If you need to make any changes, do so via our text editor and download a new copy of your PDF with your brief’s tables and pagination automatically updated. You will have access to the web editor 24 hours a day.

What resources does TypeLaw use for its hyperlinks?

For cases, we hyperlink to Casetext. For statutes, constitutions, and rules, we hyperlink to an official government resource where possible. You can request a sample brief or watch this short video to see how hyperlinks work.
